If you would have asked me 5 years ago what the heck a content creator was or that I was eventually going to be one, I would have looked at you like you were crazy. But that is exactly what has brought me here today and let me tell you the story of how it truly saved my life…

Growing Up
I always had way too much energy and could never sit still. But I also had a knack for talking and connecting with people with ease (don’t worry this will come in handy later). I had an immense passion for sports, and it was truly the only thing I loved besides Mac n Cheese and my family. I ate, slept, and BREATHED sports or any physical activity for that matter. It was truly my nirvana, the feeling I got while playing was indescribable. I felt it truly grounded me. Thus, with this immense passion for sports, it must have been my career path. Right? Well, as you all may know things don’t always pan out the way you want them to. And sometimes it’s for the best.
Fast Forward 10-15 Years
I graduated college with a degree in Sports Management (of course), and then… BOOM the pandemic hit. I had NO CLUE what I wanted to do so I figured since I always wanted to travel, I’d pursue a master’s in the UK while continuing to pursue an athletic career. After a year in the UK, I graduated (barely) with a master’s in Sport and Exercise psychology. A great accomplishment, YAYYYY!! Except again, I was stuck… I was living in the UK, highly educated (at least on paper) with not only a bachelor’s degree but a master’s and around 100£ to my name, and l found myself in the same position I was just a year and a half prior. I had a huge decision to make. I knew I was destined to do something great on this earth, but I truly didn’t know what that was (very cliché I know). But, at this moment I thought immensely, do I join my peers, and give in to societal pressure to get a stable, well-paying job that would slowly drain my soul? Or do I go off the beaten path with no plan but with a hopeful mind and positive manifestations that the universe, God, the spiritual powers that be, or whatever you may believe in will align itself to make whatever you are seeking available? With a lot of thought and help from my parents and girlfriend, I decided to take a risk. I knew it would be hard but necessary for me to live the type of life I wanted in the future.
The first year was TOUGH and even that’s an understatement. Still quite not knowing what I wanted to do I dabbled in modeling and acting, hoping my personality would take me far, which in a way it kind of did. In the beginning, I would only get jobs about once or twice a month and any money that I earned would go straight to rent which would leave me with around 5-20£ left to survive the whole next of the month until I got paid again which would again go right back to my rent. It got so bad that I would eat plain rice, olives, and beans for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was a tough cycle, but I kept hope and knew it would pan out eventually. If it weren’t for my parents who also believed in me just as much if not more than I did I don’t think I would have made it, They supported me and even gave me money for rent which to this day I am forever grateful for.
Fast Forward 6-7 Months
Acting and Modelling are going well! I moved to London, and I’m starting to see it pick up tremendously but it’s still not where I want to be yet and is not paying enough for me to TRULY survive on my own. It’s around December time now and I had a random urge to pursue something I’ve always wanted to do since I was a kid. And that was to make YouTube videos. When I say it was my calling. It truly was. It blew up in literally a month and in two months I was viral around the UK. This was my passion and I fell in love with it. I now make videos on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook and now it is my JOB!! The fact that huge brands are reaching out to content creators like me for advertising is amazing and there has been a huge shift in this marketing strategy because of our generation’s attachment to phones and social media and the fact you can make money in 2023 just by making videos is awesome! There is so much that goes into content creation in the business side of things down to how you film and what outfit you wear that day because anything can be linked to getting a brand deal. You must consistently produce content to stay relevant and must maintain a certain image to remain marketable. Social influencing is of the most popular industries you can get into nowadays and with the right help and knowing how you can make it your job too! I don’t know what the future holds but all I know is that it’s bright and this is just the beginning!!
Peace and Love,
Kobie
